Imagine that your body is like a symphony orchestra, with each nutrient playing a different instrument. Just as an orchestra needs all of its instruments to work together to create beautiful music, your body needs all of its nutrients to work together to create optimal health.

The Importance of Food and Nutrients

We all need nutrients. And in the symphony of life, nutrients like proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, trace minerals and antioxidants, and many others act as the musicians, and if all work well together, this will create a beautiful harmony that we experience as vitality, energy and good mood.

And you are the conductor, and you are creating harmony or dissonance in your body  –  depending on the way you combine your foods, nutrients, and how you prepare the foods as well on your genetic disposition, gut flora, microbiome, lifestyle, and many more factors.

The libretto (the script for this musical symphony) regulates this complex interplay of life and helps to ensure that your body functions properly and that your cells are healthy and strong.

But what if you don’t eat a completely healthy diet? Or what if you only can access foods that are conventionally grown or produced and are more or less deficient in nutrients?

Suddenly the music is no longer harmonic, certain instruments are silent, out of sync, or out of tune…

The whole symphony is sounding terrible…. This feels to you like mental or physical illness, chronic fatigue, pain, or similar issues.

But there is a way to restore harmony.

We can either try to repair the instruments, train the musicians in their craft or add backup musicians in case of failures (aka illness)

Nutritional Supplements Can Be Backup Musicians

This is where holistic healthcare shines. Whether it is helping to remove issues that keep musicians from performing well (e.g. a plugged trumpet), training the musicians to play better together (by training our brain in certain ways), or adding backup musicians (nutritional supplements), the goal of any truly holistic intervention is to restore harmony, to restore homeostasis.

Nutritional supplements can be thought of as the backup musicians in the symphony. They can help to fill in any gaps in your diet and ensure that your body is getting all of the nutrients it needs to function at its best.

You can imagine that the more complicated the libretto, the musical script, is, and the more musicians and types of instruments are involved, the more complicated becomes the conducting.

For example, what we at DocChristine Coaching do as part of our 5D Holistic Health Assessment and Strategy Plan, is to examine this harmony from all angles as it shows itself in the human body, mind, and spirit…

Obviously, human beings and their harmonic functioning are much more complex than any musical harmony and crafting the “fix” for humans is much more complex and differentiated.

That’s the crux of most of medicine, and honestly, it can take time and the willingness to experiment and try different healing modalities to achieve truly exceptional results.

The collaboration between “composers” can also be crucial to restoring harmony.

The Importance of a Balanced Diet

Regarding food and nutrition, it is also important to note that just as a symphony orchestra can’t rely solely on its backup musicians, your body shouldn’t rely solely on nutritional supplements.

It’s important to have a balanced and varied diet that provides a wide range of nutrients from many sources. Eating colorful vegetables and fruits, natural meats and fats, and protein-rich foods. Conclusion:

In summary, nutritional supplements are meant to complement a healthy diet, not replace it.

On the other hand, many more people than in the past suffer from this imbalance or dissonance of nutrition that ideally shows as vibrant health, energy, mental health, focus, determination, courage and resilience.
