Climbing Mountains for Mental Health – with Jean-Francois Dupras and - Dr. Christine Sauer
Life is like climbing a mountain... hard to climb, but the incredible view from the top is worth it.
Dr. Christine Sauer talks with Jean-Francois Dupras, who climbs the 7 highest mountains of this earth to raise money and awareness for mental health - and who climbed - and still climbs the highest mountains we all have to climb - our own mountain inside our mind.
Jean-Francois Dupras, 0riginally from Quebec, has lived in Canmore, Alberta for over fifteen years.
Since his early childhood, he has always been passionate about sports and the outdoors. His spirit of adventure allowed him to discover the Canadian Rockies at the age of 20. It was while standing on the summit of Mt Rundle for the first time, 18 years ago, that he discovered a real passion for mountaineering.
Having suffered from severe depression as a teenager and adult, mental health is a cause that is close to his heart.
Through his presentations and adventures, he wants to help people understand that mental illness is like any other disease. That no matter our past, our life challenges and fears, that everything is possible.
